The United Nations Development Program estimates that 1.3 billion people worldwide live in poverty.
We are actually 7 billion poor people on earth.
We are all poor from the poverty of some of us. The poverty of some deprives us all of skills, knowledge, talents, joys, smiles, positive energies … and so on.
In our territories, whether urban or rural, certain men and women have the genius of Einstein or that of Marie Curie, the talent of Coco Chanel, the imagination of JK Rowling, the visionary spirit of Steve Jobs, the fertile verb of Léopold Senghor or Aimé Césaire. But their talent is inhibited, suffocated, strangled by hunger, the difficult end of the month, by the uncertainty of tomorrow or simply by the sadness and guilt of not being able to offer their children the life they want.
We are 7 billion poor people on earth.
Until we understand that the poverty of some impoverishes us all, we will continue to treat poverty as a distant fact, which affects the other. We will just remain compassionate … Full of good feelings. And rather than destroying poverty, we will continue to tolerate and “manage” it.
We must destroy poverty as effectively as we create it.
We create poverty through our everyday actions, collectively and individually. Consciously or unconsciously.
We build poverty when we poorly remunerate the farmer.
We build poverty when the action of Man on nature dries up or floods land and deprives certain peoples of sources of income.
We build poverty when we deny skilled or better-paid work to a person because of their sexual orientation, skin color or religious affiliation.
It’s not about doing more in order to deconstrut poverty mechanisms.
It’s about doing less.
We must reduce the impact of Human. We must also innovate.
That’s the key.
